reflection

I really enjoyed doing these blogs. I learned so much about and the wonderful things about it. I even got to learn about some famous hairstylist. Reading their backgrounds gave me a lot of inspiration. I already had a passion for hair, but this just made me so much more confident that I can make it to the top if I work hard enough. Some of the people that I learned about is Kim Kimble. She does Beyonce hair which my idol, she also does Vanessa fox, Kerry Washington and a few others. I learn about different types of hair. Like hair weaving for example its different way of attaching weave to your head. You can get it sewed in with tread and needle and or you can get it glue in with black hair glue. There’s just so much you can do with hair its crazy, that’s why im crazy about hair. This experience has helped me not all learned new things about my passion but also about my peer’s passion. As I was wondering around the class I learned a couple of things about other people topics. Now that I have a better understanding of hair I will make sure that I spread my knowledge. Reading my comments I learned that a lot of people is actually interested in knowing more about hair so I hope that doing these blogs taught them what they want to know. When I start Cosmotolgy School I will be happy to know that I did research on some of the things that they will be teaching so it’s kind of like I got a head start. So I will take what I learned and apply it to my career. Creating these blogs was a lot easier that putting together an 8 to 12 pepper. So I am so grateful. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to learn more on my passion hair.

The Famous hair stylist.

One of the things I wanted know was the most recent famous hairstylist. So I did some research and came across some very interesting people. Kim kimble works for my idol, Beyonce Knowles. Kim has a tremendous passion for hair. She designed beyonce hairstyles in the movie “Dream Girls”. Kim explained “she did a lot of research into the 60s and 70s hair using the age and vogue magazines and inspiration from a range of symbols ranging form Olympic rings to Egyptian styles”. A third generation hair dresser, this hair life started doing “unofficial duty at the shampoo bowl” in her mothers hair salon right here in Chicago at the age of six years old”. Although her mother still does hair in Los Angeles, her grandmother has retired after many dedicated years behind the chair. Growing up in the hair business, Kim had a great understanding of her roll as a hairstylist. She took the opportunity to study cosmetology while in high school. By the time she had her high school diploma, she would be ready to unleash her talent. She attended prestigious Dudley Cosmetology University in North Carolina. She also groomed men as well. In 1996 Kim received her first opportunity to work in films. She sighed on as “a hair consultant” who specialized in wig designs, of the movie BAPS starring Halle Berry. She didn’t just stop at beyonce she also did Taraji P. Henson hair, Garcelle Beauvais, Mary j Blige, Kerry Washington, and Vanessa Williams. These entire ladies are very pleased with Kim’s talent. Another famous hairstylist is Shereese L. Slates. Slates passion for hair and beauty dates back 23 years. Her celebrity clientele, accolades and recognition as a well-respected and talented hair stylist has earned her many prestigious honors that include “one of the most influential women in the hair and beauty industry for 2007”. Slates’ sultry hairstyle creation have been show cased on top shoulders of countless award winning music artists as far as Patti Labelle, Ciara, Ashanti, Monica and 702 .

All about hair

Hair is a protein filament that grows through the epidermis from follicles deep within the demis. You can add extension to your real hair (hair weaving). Hair weaving is weaving or braiding human or synthetic hair into natural hair. Wikipedia states that the hair extensions are woven to cornrowed hair or to small sections of lose hair; if u do not take good care of your hair it can cause breakage and or thinning. A recent development in hair extensions is lace extensions. Lace extension is made from nylon mesh material shaped into a cap. It is than knotted by single strands of hair. Adding the hair to the cap gives the hair a more natural look. You can add extensions to your hair without putting chemicals in you r hair. Here are some examples:

  • Thick thread to attach the hair weft securely

  • A long and or curved needle

  • Hair glue. The glue can be easily washed out using shampoo and conditioner. It will not bring your real hair out.

  • ponytails or ponytails peices

They have this thing called virgin hair. It is hair that has often never been processed. Remy weft is not always virgin hair. Once the hair has been colored in any way short of removing the cuticles it is referred to as remy. The cuticle protects hair from damage and gives it that natural look. There is also none-remy hair. None-remy hair is also known as fallen hair. The roots and tips of hair are all mixed up in none-remy hair. Another type of hair is synthetic hair. Synthetic hairs made up of different types of synthetic fibers. Just like human hair synthetic hair comes in weave. It don’t last as longer as human hair cause it tends to tangle and frizz at the ends of the hair. Synthetic hair is not as expensive.

I know working with hair its easy thing but its something I enjoy doing. Some thing I know about hair is how to cut split ends, dye hair, perm hair and curl basically style of hair. I just know how to do hair. There are so many thing I want to know about hair, like why it curls the way it do what chemicals they use in the dyies to make your hair change colors, who was the first black African American hair stylist, who came up with the perm, why are some people hair is nappy and some people hair are better and I also want to know who came up with idea of the weaves. Weaving was one of the smartest thing someone could have ever think of. Me personally wear weaves a lot. I would like to know who invented combs and brushs, who invented ponytail holder, and who thought of the ideal of hair gel. I would also like to know who invented shampoo and conditioner. When it come to hair I am curious. I want to know everything their is to know about hair. Doing hair is my passion. There are ofther thing I know about doing hair. I know how to work with all different types of hair.Oh! I also know how to braid hair. I think I know wear braids started; it started africa. Hopefully i'm correct. I want to know who was the first person to open a beauty salon. I am so curious to find out who gave hairstyles a name like the most popular hairstyle today is called a 27 piece. I want to learn about the most famous hairstylist. how did they started? where do they get their inspiratin from?. Do they have a passion for hair or is it just they know how to do?. As you can see im a very intersted in everything about hair. i cant to learned the things i want to know!
